Digital Television, what does it mean, what's my options?

....Since the UK analogue TV switch-off has already started it is now time to go Digital....

It seems there is much confusion surrounding Digital Switch-over and its very common for consumers to believe they need to purchase a new TV, or that they must get 'High Definition' screens, or that they need to pay for Aerial upgrades.....

Digital TV does not need to be complicated, High Definition does not need to be confusing. You just need fully independant advice from someone that isn't tied to 1 company or 1 product, & not working on commissions. You have found the right website.

Firstly, it is surprising that residents of our local area still choose to get Freeview when it clearly has reception problems & channel limitations. The cost of digital aerial upgrade can be huge, and still not solve the reception issues! Coastal areas will always suffer with Terrestrial reception, just like we have for many years with our analogue Channel 5, so don't expect things to improve soon.

Secondly, we don't have the option of Cable TV in our area, so Satellite is the only way forward for Digital reception. The screen picture is superior to analogue broadcasts, the channel choice is unbeatable, so its certainly not a second-rate service.  Basically, our experience is that most consumers seem completely unaware that you can already get "freeview-by-satellite", also known as Freesat.

The opinion of most seems to be "Well I just cant afford Sky......"  Well Freesat is not about subscription to Sky, it is simply about receiving a fantastic choice of TV and Digital Radio without any monthly subscription.  All the fav's-  BBC1, 2, 3, 4 and ITV1, 2, 3, 4, Channel 4, many Free Movie Channels, Music Video, News & Children's Channels.....  so much is available NOW completely without any monthly commitment, no contract, and without any reception problems.

Lots of homes already have a satellite dish installed, which may help save you money if upgrading, and one small dish can provide channels on multiple TV's and in many rooms too. Freesat has so much to offer, with more channels than Freeview, totally without subscription charges, at relatively low set-up cost. The future will soon bring more developments from Freesat and you will begin to see more advertising soon as Argos, Comet, Currys and other big stores begin to sell the products. Wherever you buy equipment is not relevant, you are still able to request installations, repairs, maintenance or servicing from us:-

Your local Independent Engineer - (Tel.) 07704 33 22 01

Once you have a digital satellite system you may even decide to upgrade to Sky. Whatever your needs we can provide the service, installations, maintenance & repairs, even if you DO have subscription contract with Sky! You are not forced to pay their high call-out charges, you can use your local independent engineer.

Freesatfromsky or Free-sat-from-Sky, is the Sky Digital branded version of Freesat. This option gives you free Digital TV channels with the most popular on-screen EPG 'Electronic Program Guide'. The Sky-brand satellite receiver uses Sky software to list the channels with corresponding numbers, instead of the BBC / ITV onscreen software that uses Freesat's different channel numbers. Additionally the Sky receivers provide a cardslot for future upgrading to Sky subscriptions. Unfortunately this form of Freesat does have some limitations, so usually it is best to discuss your needs with us rather first than being offered too many choices to consider.

Call your local installer direct to speak to a friendly English voice.

Advertised offers of free equipment from Sky seem unbeatable, but may have hidden costs & conditions like; installation charges; the cost of having an extra phone socket; adding extra rooms; additional Interactive Contract and more terms/conditions. We don't give equipment away free but that doesn't always mean we are more expensive. Buying and owning your equipment also means you get choice, rather than "take or leave"......

......whatever your needs...... if you are considering freesat; if you are considering subscription to Sky; if you have moved home and already have equipment; if you want to add 'multi-room'; if you need to repair or upgrade; etc
